DEVIL’S DEN

Happy Wednesday everyone! This weekend Brock and I finally took Basquiat out and we went hiking at Devil’s Den, which is a state park only 30 minutes away from where we live. It’s been so hot the past few weekends we have avoided it, but Sunday wasn’t too bad! We packed up some adult beverages (obviously), doggy treats, and food and headed out. Basquiat LOVES going hiking with us!

i’m probably making this face because brock is saying something stupid. 

It was seriously so beautiful outside! Basquiat is terrified of the water for some reason, but we still tried to coax him in some shallow water with treats. He didn’t really enjoy it…he just tolerated it and looked like the unhappiest dog ever sitting in water up to tail. It was kind of funny.

After eating and drinking we headed out on one of favorite, shorter trails and did some exploring. Basquiat is a great trail dog and kind of leads the way. I wish I had taken pictures of that! Slowly getting better guys…slowly.

Devil’s Den get its name from all the caves and rocky outcrops throughout the park. It’s kind of a scary (but cool!) name. A few years ago you used to be able to go inside the caves, but due to White Nose Bat Syndrome, a fungal disease that kills bats, all the caves are closed. Hopefully scientists will find a cure so the bats will be safe again!

We had alot of fun and the next time we go back I will make a point of taking better photos (and more!). I have been debating using our old SLR that we never use anymore, but it’s so bulky. Do you use your iphone for a majority of your photo taking? Or do you have a favorite DSLR or point and shoot that you love to use? I would love to know!
