y’all…this weekend I went all out and made some special food for the Game of Thrones premiere last night and it was AWESOME! Pictured above are these amazing lemon cakes (I called them “Sansa’s Lemon Cakes” because if you’ve read the books you’ll know these were Sansa’s favorite treats!). I rarely venture into baking, but these were super easy to make, I just wished we had more! Check out the recipe at From Calculus to Cupcakes.
For the main entree I made a savory pie- which is usually something I’m not a fan of, but I wanted something that Tyrion’s character would want to eat, or something Arya could have chowed down on at King’s Landing.
Say hello to the Winterfell Steak and Stilton Pie! I threw everything into a crockpot (with some Guiness too!) and later that afternoon I popped it in the fridge to cool off (easier to pour the filling into the pie that way) and went about cutting out the Stark Direwolf. That was the trickiest part, honestly. I was really worried that while it baked the direwolf would look mega derpy, but I think he still looks pretty intimidating! The pie would have been completely different If I didn’t add the blue cheese and Guinness- it just made it extra hearty. The worst part was cutting the pie…I spent all day getting it ready and it was kind of a bummer to cut up something so pretty!
The premiere was good- I’ve read the books so I was expecting certain things to happen that didn’t happen last night so I was a little bummed but it just makes me excited for next weekend!
Do you watch Game of Thrones? Who are you cheering on?
